Janet Comer is an interdisciplinary artist, arts instructor, and arts administrator. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Art from the University of the Fraser Valley. Janet has exhibited works throughout the Lower Mainland and the Interior of BC. She currently lives and works on the traditional and unceded territories of the Katzie and Kwantlen First Nations.

Janet’s current practice examines the interplay between identity, memory, sentimentality, and kitsch. Within her work she utilizes found objects and materials that can be found in the craft isles of various retail outlets. Her work focuses on the exploration of colour, patterning, and ornamentation; often blurring the boundaries between home crafting and so-called “fine” art.
